SEE ALSO...

Tau Antibody (E-4) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody engineered to detect Tau protein, also known as MAPT (microtubule-associated protein tau), or TAU. Anti-Tau antibody (E-4) recognizes an epitope mapping between amino acids 358-379 at the C-terminus of the CNS isoform of human Tau, ensuring effective detection of Tau isoforms from mouse, rat, and human sources through western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Tau monoclonal antibody (E-4) is available in both non-conjugated form and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® variants, providing versatility for a wide range of experimental applications. The Tau protein is a 758 amino acid-long protein predominantly located in the cytoplasm, cytoskeleton, and cell membrane of neuronal cells, where Tau plays a vital role in promoting microtubule assembly and stability. This localization is crucial for maintaining neuronal structure, facilitating intracellular transport, and supporting neuronal polarity, which are essential for proper neuronal function and communication. Tau interacts with key proteins such as kinases like GSK-3β and phosphatases like PP2A, which regulate Tau phosphorylation state and functional activity. Proper functioning of Tau is essential for cytoskeletal integrity and neuronal health, while Tau dysregulation and aggregation are implicated in the development of neurodegenerative diseases. Abnormal Tau accumulation and hyperphosphorylation are hallmark features of Alzheimer′s disease, corticobasal degeneration (CBD), progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP), and other tauopathies, making Tau (E-4) antibody an invaluable tool for researchers studying these conditions.

Hi, I am trying to figure out the epitope of Tau Antibody (E-4): sc-515539, the description says the epitope is between amino acids 358-379, but there are differnet isoforms. Can you send me the sequence of 358-379 (or the sc-515539 P seq)

Asked by: stefan stamm
Thank you for your question. The exact peptide sequence used as an antigen is considered proprietary information. However, we do publish that this is specific for an epitope mapping between amino acids 358-379 at the C-terminus of Tau (CNS isoform) of human origin. As a reference for the exact amino acids for this sequence, please refer to protein accession number NP_058518.1 on NCBI.

What application is the blocking peptide sc-515539 P appropriate for?

Asked by: Germaine
Thank you for your question. The blocking peptide is intended for use as a negative control, by pre-adsorbing the mouse monoclonal antibody against the antigen. For full protocol details, please contact our Technical Services Department or view our online protocol here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/peptide-neutralization

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good Ab but not for Elisa coatingI got this Ab trial size for my Sandwich Elisa, this is good Ab but not for the Elisa coating AB at 1:500 dilution. Maybe I need less dilution, fortunately other Ab from Santa Cruz works well. I think this Ab is good for Western blot but not for the Elisa.
