Sucrase-Isomaltase Antibody (A-12) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects Sucrase-Isomaltase (SI) of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). SI Antibody (A-12) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. SI is a type II brush border membrane protein that plays a crucial role in carbohydrate digestion, specifically in the hydrolysis of dietary sucrose and maltose, which are essential for nutrient absorption. SI is located at the apical membrane of adult intestinal enterocytes, where SI is strategically positioned to facilitate the final stages of carbohydrate breakdown. Strategic positioning at this location enables efficient nutrient absorption directly from the intestinal lumen into the bloodstream. SI deficiencies can lead to significant digestive issues, such as osmotic diarrhea, due to the inability to convert disaccharides into absorbable monosaccharides. Congenital SI deficiency (CSID) is an autosomal recessive disorder that highlights SI′s critical role in human health, as CSID results in reduced enzymatic activity and subsequent malabsorption of carbohydrates.
