SSTR2 Antibody (A-8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects SSTR2 of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-SSTR2 antibody (A-8) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. SSTR2, a member of the somatostatin receptor family, plays a crucial role in mediating the biological effects of somatostatin, a peptide hormone that regulates numerous physiological processes, including hormone secretion, cell proliferation, and neurotransmission. SSTR2 is primarily located on the cell membrane, where SSTR2 functions as a G-protein-coupled receptor, initiating intracellular signaling cascades that can inhibit adenylyl cyclase activity and modulate calcium ion channels. This localization is vital for signal transduction, as SSTR2 effectively responds to somatostatin and regulates various cellular functions. Additionally, SSTR2 can form functional homo- and heterodimers with other somatostatin receptor subtypes, enhancing the complexity and specificity of somatostatin signaling pathways. The presence of SSTR2 in various tissues underscores its importance in both normal physiology and potential pathophysiological conditions, making SSTR2 (A-8) antibody an essential tool for researchers studying somatostatin signaling and its implications in health and disease.
