Sp3 Antibody (D-6) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a antibody that detects Sp3 in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Sp3 is a member of the Sp transcription factor family, which also includes Sp1, Sp2, and Sp4, and is characterized by a highly conserved DNA-binding domain featuring three zinc fingers at its C-terminus. This structural feature is crucial as Sp3 binds to specific DNA sequences known as GC boxes, which are essential for the regulation of gene expression. Notably, Sp3 plays a unique role in transcriptional regulation of various genes, including those involved in neuronal function, by inhibiting the activity of other Sp family members like Sp1 and Sp4. Sp3′s ability to modulate gene expression is particularly important in the context of neuronal nicotinic acetylcholine receptors, where Sp3 interacts with regulatory elements that influence receptor subunit expression. Additionally, multiple isoforms of Sp3, resulting from alternative splicing, add another layer of complexity to regulatory functions, making Sp3 a significant player in cellular processes and a valuable target for research in gene regulation and neurobiology.
