SNRPA Antibody (D-4) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b light chain antibody that detects SNRPA in mouse samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). SNRPA, also known as U1A, is a crucial component of the RNA spliceosome, which plays a vital role in the precise excision of introns from pre-messenger RNA (pre-mRNA). SNRPA is primarily located in the nucleus, where SNRPA contains two RNA recognition motif (RRM) domains, RRM1 and RRM2, with RRM1 specifically binding to the stem loop II of U1 small nuclear RNA. The structural integrity of SNRPA is essential for function, as SNRPA not only participates in the formation of the U1 small nuclear ribonucleoprotein (snRNP) complex but also regulates expression by negatively controlling the polyadenylation of pre-mRNA. By inhibiting the addition of a polyA tail, SNRPA promotes the degradation of pre-mRNA via the nuclear exosome pathway, ensuring that levels are tightly regulated within the cell. Approximately 16% of cellular SNRPA exists in an snRNP-free form, known as SF-A, which interacts with a distinct set of non-snRNP proteins, highlighting the versatility and importance of SNRPA in various cellular processes.
