SMC5 Antibody (B-11) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects SMC5 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-SMC5 antibody (B-11) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. SMC5 is integral to the structural maintenance of chromosomes, playing a vital role in DNA repair mechanisms, particularly in double-stranded breaks that occur during DNA replication or due to exposure to genotoxic stress. SMC5, along with SMC6, forms a complex essential for homologous recombination repair of sister chromatids, thereby ensuring genomic stability and preventing chromosomal rearrangements that could lead to cell malfunction or disease. This complex regulates cellular response to DNA damage, including prevention of apoptosis induced by DNA damage, highlighting SMC5′s importance in maintaining cellular integrity and function.
