SGEF Antibody (E-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects SGEF protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-SGEF antibody (E-5) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. SGEF protein, also known as SH3-containing Guanine Nucleotide Exchange Factor, plays a crucial role in regulating membrane dynamics during macropinocytosis, a process essential for nutrient uptake and immune response. This 871 amino acid RhoGEF is predominantly expressed in adult liver tissue and has been implicated in the progression of prostate cancer, highlighting its potential role in carcinogenesis. SGEF functions as a guanine nucleotide exchange factor, facilitating the conversion of inactive GDP-bound Rho GTPases to their active GTP-bound forms, thereby influencing various cellular processes such as cytoskeletal rearrangement and cell signaling. Notably, multiple isoforms of SGEF arise from alternative splicing, which may contribute to its diverse functional roles in different cellular contexts.
