SEE ALSO...

SF2/ASF Antibody (3G268) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects SF2/ASF in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and immunofluorescence (IF). Anti-SF2/ASF antibody (3G268) is available in a non-conjugated form, allowing for versatile experimental use. SF2/ASF, also known as SRSF1, plays a critical role in pre-mRNA splicing by enhancing the recognition of weak splice sites, which is essential for accurate mRNA processing. SF2/ASF (3G268) antibody targets a protein primarily located in the nucleus, where SF2/ASF interacts with splicing enhancer elements—short RNA sequences that activate nearby weak splice sites. SF2/ASF presence in the nucleus is vital because SF2/ASF not only facilitates constitutive splicing of pre-mRNA but also regulates alternative splicing, which is crucial for generating diverse protein isoforms from a single gene. SF2/ASF shuttles between the nucleus and cytoplasm, contributing to mRNA transport, thereby influencing gene expression at multiple levels. SF2/ASF activity is finely tuned by interactions with other splicing factors, including members of the serine/arginine-rich (SR) protein family, which contain RNA recognition motifs and an RS-rich domain. Understanding SF2/ASF function and dynamics is essential for elucidating gene regulation complexities and potential implications in various diseases, including cancer, where splicing mechanisms may be disrupted.
