SEC14L2 Antibody (H-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b antibody that detects SEC14L2 in mouse, rat, and human samples through various applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). SEC14L2, also known as supernatant protein factor, α-tocopherol-associated protein, or squalene transfer protein, plays a crucial role as a carrier protein that facilitates the transfer of tocopherols and acts as a transcriptional activator through interaction with α-tocopherol. Additionally, SEC14L2 is involved in the conversion of microsomal squalene-2,3-oxide into lanosterol, a key step in cholesterol biosynthesis, highlighting importance in lipid metabolism and cellular homeostasis. High expression levels of SEC14L2 are found in the liver, brain, intestine, and prostate, indicating significant physiological roles in these tissues. While SEC14L2 is primarily localized in the cytoplasm, translocation to the nucleus upon binding with α-tocopherol underscores functional versatility and regulatory potential. Furthermore, SEC14L2 activity is modulated by post-translational modifications, particularly phosphorylation by protein kinase A and protein kinase C, which can influence interactions and functional outcomes within the cell.
