SAP 61 Antibody (A-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b antibody that detects SAP 61 in mouse, rat, and human samples through various applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). SAP 61, also known as SF3A3, PRP9, PRPF9, or SF3a60, is a 501 amino acid protein characterized by the presence of a matrin-type zinc finger and is a crucial component of the SF3A splicing factor complex, which plays a vital role in pre-mRNA splicing. SAP 61 is localized in the nucleus, where SAP 61 functions as the third subunit of the heterotrimeric SF3A complex, essential for the conversion of 15S U2 small nuclear ribonucleoprotein (snRNP) into the active 17S form that directly participates in splicing events. SAP 61 interacts with subunit 1 (SAP 114) through its N-terminus while simultaneously binding to the 15S U2 snRNP via its zinc finger domain, highlighting SAP 61′s integral role in prespliceosome assembly and overall cell viability. SAP 61′s importance extends beyond its structural role, as SAP 61 is also involved in the regulation of gene expression and cellular responses, making SAP 61 a critical target for studies related to RNA processing and potential therapeutic interventions. Additionally, a pseudogene for SAP 61 has been identified on chromosome 20, further emphasizing the complexity and evolutionary significance of this protein.
