SEE ALSO...

RPE Antibody (F-10) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects RPE protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-RPE antibody (F-10) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. RPE protein, or ribulose-5-phosphate-3-epimerase, is a crucial enzyme in the pentose phosphate pathway, which plays a vital role in cellular metabolism by generating ribose-5-phosphate for nucleotide synthesis and NADPH for reductive biosynthesis. RPE protein consists of 228 amino acids and belongs to the ribulose phosphate binding superfamily, showing highest expression levels in red blood cells, lymphocytes, and fibroblasts. RPE exists as two alternatively spliced isoforms and shares 96% sequence identity with human protein rcRPE, being encoded by a gene located on human chromosome 2. This chromosome houses over 1,400 genes, accounting for nearly 8% of the human genome, and is associated with various genetic disorders, including Harlequin ichthyosis and Alström syndrome, which highlight RPE′s importance in both normal physiology and disease states.
