SEE ALSO...

Ret Antibody (6E4C4) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects Ret protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Ret antibody (6E4C4) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Ret proto-oncogene plays a crucial role in cellular signaling pathways, particularly in the glial cell line-derived neurotrophic factor (GDNF) signaling pathway, which is essential for the survival and differentiation of various neuronal populations. Ret protein is primarily located on the cell membrane, where Ret functions as a receptor tyrosine kinase, facilitating communication between cells and their environment. This localization is vital for Ret′s role in mediating signals that influence cell growth, survival, and differentiation, particularly in the development of the nervous system and kidneys. Notably, aberrations in Ret gene, such as rearrangements, have been implicated in certain cancers, including papillary thyroid carcinoma, where these changes lead to the production of oncogenic fusion proteins that are constitutively active, underscoring Ret′s importance in both normal physiology and disease states.

I am using Ret (6E4C4): sc-101423 monoclonal antibody to stain paraffin embedded tissue. Do you recommend antigen retrieval when using this antibody?

Asked by: Dr Ninau Qelp
We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
