RAP1 Antibody (4C8/1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects RAP1 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry. RAP1 Antibody (4C8/1) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. RAP1, also known as TERF2IP (telomeric repeat-binding factor 2-interacting protein 1) or DRIP5, is a crucial 399 amino acid protein located in both the nucleus and cytoplasm, featuring one BRCT domain and one Myb-like domain. RAP1 plays a vital role in regulating telomere function and transcription, acting as a key player in maintaining genomic stability. RAP1 does not bind directly to DNA; instead, RAP1 is recruited to telomeric double-stranded 5′-TTAGGG-3′ repeats through interaction with TRF2. This interaction is essential for the negative regulation of telomere recombination and for repressing homology-directed repair (HDR), processes that are critical for controlling telomere length and preventing chromosomal instability. The gene encoding RAP1 is located on human chromosome 16q23.1 and mouse chromosome 8 E1, highlighting evolutionary conservation and importance across species.
