PTP22 Antibody (G-3) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects PTP22 in mouse and rat samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-PTP22 antibody (G-3) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. The protein tyrosine phosphatase PTPN22, also known as LYP or PEP, plays a critical role in immune regulation and is associated with the risk of developing several autoimmune diseases, including type 1 diabetes and rheumatoid arthritis. Located primarily in hematopoietic cells, PTPN22 is essential for modulating T cell activation, and genetic variants can significantly impact immune responses. Notably, a specific missense single nucleotide polymorphism in PTPN22 leads to a variant that disrupts the proline-rich motif crucial for interaction with the Src homology-3 domain of cytoplasmic tyrosine kinase (CSK). This disruption may alter normal regulatory functions of both proteins, potentially enhancing T cell activation and contributing to autoimmune pathology. The presence of the risk allele in approximately 17% of the Caucasian population and 28% of those with rheumatoid arthritis underscores PTPN22′s importance in understanding autoimmune disease mechanisms and developing targeted therapies.
