PTP22 Antibody (E-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects PTP22 protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). PTP22 (E-5) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. The protein tyrosine phosphatase PTPN22, also known as LYP or PEP, plays a crucial role in regulating immune responses and is associated with the risk of developing several autoimmune diseases, such as type 1 diabetes and rheumatoid arthritis. Located primarily in hematopoietic cells, PTPN22 is a hematopoietic-specific protein that is influenced by a genetic variant, where a missense single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) alters its function. This variant is present in approximately 17% of the Caucasian population and is found in about 28% of Caucasians with rheumatoid arthritis. The risk allele disrupts the P1 proline-rich motif, which is essential for the interaction with the Src homology-3 (SH3) domain of cytoplasmic tyrosine kinase (CSK). This disruption may lead to altered regulation of T cell activation, as PTPN22 acts as an effector and/or regulator of CSK in T cells and other hematopoietic cells, highlighting its importance in maintaining immune homeostasis.
