Prolactin Antibody (E-9) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects Prolactin in human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Prolactin, a 226 amino acid protein, is primarily secreted by the anterior pituitary gland and plays a crucial role in various physiological processes, including lactation, reproduction, and immune regulation. Notably, Prolactin is involved in the development of mammary tissue and has been implicated in mammary cancer, where Prolactin acts as both a mitogen and a differentiating agent. Prolactin′s ability to enhance the proliferation of B cell hybridomas is significant, as this enhancement leads to increased antibody production, which is vital for effective immune responses. Additionally, Prolactin has been shown to counteract the antiproliferative effects of the immunosuppressive cytokine TGF-beta, highlighting Prolactin′s importance in maintaining cellular growth and function. Furthermore, Prolactin′s association with autoimmune diseases, such as arthritis and type 1 diabetes, underscores Prolactin′s relevance in both health and disease, making anti-Prolactin antibody (E-9) an essential tool for researchers studying these critical biological processes.
