SEE ALSO...

Pol II Antibody (8WG16) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects RNA Polymerase II (Pol II) across various species including mouse, rat, human, Xenopus, C. elegans, yeast, wheat germ, and bovine through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and immunofluorescence (IF). RNA Polymerase II (Pol II) antibody (8WG16) is available in both non-conjugated and multiple conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and various Alexa Fluor® conjugates. RNA Polymerase II is a crucial enzyme composed of twelve subunits, responsible for the transcription of protein-coding genes, which is essential for gene expression and cellular function. The largest subunit of RNA Polymerase II, known as RPB1 or RPB205, is a 1,840 amino acid protein that features a C2H2-type zinc finger and a C-terminal domain rich in heptapeptide repeats. This structural composition is vital as RNA Polymerase II not only facilitates catalytic activity but also plays a key role in forming the DNA-binding domain, which is necessary for the accurate transcription of the DNA template. The integrity of the largest subunit is critical; without proper function, the processes of mRNA synthesis and transcription elongation are severely compromised, highlighting RNA Polymerase II′s importance in maintaining cellular homeostasis and regulating gene expression.

which subunit of pol II does this antibody recognize? The datasheet says the heptapeptide repeat of the largest subunit of eukaryotic Pol II, but it doesn't say if it's the subunit A, B, C, D, etc. Which one is it? Thanks.

Asked by: john
Thank you for your question. Subunit A and B can be detected . https://www.uniprot.org/uniprotkb/P08775/entry

How much Ab is in every tube? The datasheet states "100µg in 1mL PBS per tube", whereas the product description only gives a concentration (200µg/mL). And they are different! Thanks

Rated 5 out of 5 by from unluckyAccording to the textbook, the largest subunit of Pol II (called RPB1 or RPB205) is a 1,840 amino acid protein that contains a C2H2 zinc finger and a C-terminal domain consisting of several heptad repeats. We tried to test this conclusion, but failed, but the product characteristics are still good.
