Pmel17 Antibody (C-2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a antibody that detects Pmel17 in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Pmel17, also known as gp100, is a melanocyte differentiation antigen that plays a crucial role in the immune response against melanoma by presenting tumor-associated antigens to cytotoxic T lymphocytes. Pmel17 is primarily located in the melanosomes of melanocytes, where Pmel17 is involved in the formation of melanin, the pigment responsible for skin color. The localization of Pmel17 in melanosomes is significant because Pmel17 not only contributes to the pigmentation process but also serves as a marker for identifying melanoma cells, which often exhibit upregulated expression of this protein. Pmel17 is highly glycosylated and undergoes proteolytic cleavage, resulting in a secreted form that can be recognized by various monoclonal antibodies, including NKI-beteb, HMB-50, and HMB-45, making Pmel17 a valuable target for diagnostic and therapeutic applications in malignant melanoma. Anti-Pmel17 antibody (C-2) effectively binds to enhance research and clinical applications, particularly in developing immunotherapies for melanoma.
