PLC δ1 Antibody (A-4) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects phosphoinositide-specific phospholipase C δ1 (PLC δ1) in mouse, rat, and human samples through various applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). PLC δ1 plays a pivotal role in calcium signaling, acting as a calcium signal amplifier that is activated by atypical GTP-binding proteins. This activation is crucial for signaling pathways mediated by receptors such as the oxytocin receptor and the α1B-adrenoreceptor, which are essential for various physiological processes. PLC δ1 is predominantly expressed in the brain, heart, lung, and testis, and abnormal PLC δ1 accumulation has been observed in the brains of individuals with Alzheimer′s disease, indicating a potential involvement in the disease′s pathology. Additionally, PLC δ1 interacts with other phospholipase C family members, such as PLC δ3 and PLC δ4, which also contain functional domains that bind calcium and catalyze the production of second messengers diacylglycerol and inositol 1,4,5-triphosphate. The presence of PLC δ1 in various tissues underscores its importance in regulating cellular signaling and function, making PLC δ1 a significant target for research in both normal physiology and disease states.
