PI-9 Antibody (C-10) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects PI-9 of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). PI-9 (C-10) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. PI-9, also known as cytoplasmic antiproteinase 3 (CAP3), is a member of the Ovalbumin family of serine proteinase inhibitors (serpins) and plays a crucial role in regulating serine proteinase activity, particularly in immune responses. PI-9 functions to inhibit granzyme B, a serine protease released by cytotoxic lymphocytes that induces apoptosis in target cells. By preventing granzyme B-mediated apoptosis, PI-9 serves as a protective factor for cells during immune responses, particularly in the placenta, lung, and various tumors where expression is often upregulated in response to inflammatory stimuli. PI-9 presence in the nuclei of human cytotoxic cells, endothelial cells, and epithelial cells highlights importance in cellular defense mechanisms, as PI-9 is involved in a nonconventional nuclear import and export pathway that regulates localization and activity. PI-9 is rapidly induced by estrogen, indicating potential role in hormone-regulated processes and significance in cancer biology, where PI-9 may contribute to tumor survival by inhibiting apoptosis.
