PGD2 synthase Antibody (F-7) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects PGD2 synthase in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). This enzyme is the first member of the sigma class of glutathione S-transferases (GST) in vertebrates and features a unique active site cleft that distinguishes PGD2 synthase from other members of the GST superfamily. The human PGD2 synthase gene, located on chromosome 4q22.3, exhibits species-specific expression patterns; for example, while PGD2 synthase is widely distributed in humans, expression is primarily in the oviduct and skin of mice. PGD2 synthase is expressed in the cytoplasm of human megakaryoblastic CMK cells before they differentiate into platelets, which lack PGD2 synthase activity. Another member of the PGD2 synthase family is essential for synthesizing PGD2 in the brain, highlighting PGD2 synthase′s importance in both peripheral and central nervous system functions. The human PGD2 synthase gene is mapped to chromosome 9q34.3, further emphasizing PGD2 synthase′s significance in human biology.
