PGD2 synthase Antibody (C-8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects PGD2 synthase protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-PGD2 synthase antibody (C-8) is available in non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. PGD2 synthase protein plays a crucial role in the immune system as a key enzyme responsible for producing D and J series prostanoids, which mediate inflammatory responses and regulate various physiological processes. This enzyme belongs to the sigma class of glutathione S-transferases and features a unique active site cleft distinguishing PGD2 synthase from other glutathione S-transferase superfamily members. The human PGD synthase gene, located on chromosome 4q22.3, exhibits species-specific expression patterns; while widely distributed in humans, expression in mice is limited to the oviduct and skin. PGD2 synthase is predominantly localized in the cytoplasm of human megakaryoblastic CMK cells before differentiation into platelets, which lack PGD2 synthase activity. Another enzyme in the PGD2 synthase family catalyzes PGH2 conversion to PGD2, playing an essential role in brain PGD2 synthesis, and operates independently of glutathione. The human PGD2 synthase gene is mapped to chromosome 9q34.3, highlighting significance in both cellular function and potential therapeutic targets in inflammatory diseases.
