PDK2 Antibody (3F2D7) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects PDK2 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), flow cytometry (FCM), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). PDK2 (3F2D7) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. PDK2 plays a crucial role in cellular metabolism as a member of the pyruvate dehydrogenase kinase family, which regulates the activity of the pyruvate dehydrogenase complex (PDC) through phosphorylation of its E1α subunit. This regulation is vital because it determines whether pyruvate is converted into acetyl-CoA for energy production or diverted towards other metabolic pathways, particularly during periods of nutrient deprivation. PDK2′s activity is enhanced by interaction with the core of the PDC, which consists of sixty dihydrolipoamide acetyltransferase (E2) subunits, highlighting the importance of protein-protein interactions in metabolic regulation. PDK2 expression is notably high in heart and skeletal muscle tissues, where energy demands are significant, while lower levels are found in spleen and lung, indicating a tissue-specific role in metabolism.
