    SEE ALSO...

PANK1 Antibody (B-9) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects PANK1 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). PANK1 (B-9) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. The pantothenate kinase 1 (PANK1) protein, consisting of 598 amino acids, is crucial for regulating coenzyme A (CoA) levels within cells, as PANK1 catalyzes the first step in CoA biosynthesis. CoA is vital for numerous metabolic pathways, including fatty acid synthesis and degradation, the citric acid cycle, and metabolism of carbohydrates and amino acids. PANK1 is primarily localized in the cytoplasm and is subject to inhibition by acetyl-CoA and manyl-CoA, as well as by high concentrations of non-esterified CoA (CoASH), which underscores PANK1′s role in maintaining cellular energy homeostasis. Notably, four isoforms of PANK1 arise from alternative splicing, with PANK1a and PANK1b being the catalytically active forms; PANK1a is predominantly expressed in tissues such as the brain, heart, kidney, liver, and skeletal muscle, while PANK1b is found at lower levels in kidney, liver, brain, and testis, and is absent in heart and skeletal muscle.
