P504S Antibody (H-2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects P504S protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). P504S (H-2) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. P504S protein, also known as AMACR (α-methylacyl-CoA racemase), is an enzyme that plays a crucial role in the metabolism of branched-chain fatty acids and bile acid intermediates. P504S is primarily localized in the peroxisome and mitochondrion, where P504S catalyzes the conversion of pristanoyl-CoA and C27-bile acyl-CoAs to their (S)-stereoisomers, which are essential for subsequent degradation through peroxisomal β-oxidation. This enzymatic activity is vital for maintaining lipid homeostasis and preventing the accumulation of toxic metabolites. Notably, mutations in the gene encoding P504S can lead to AMACR deficiency, resulting in increased concentrations of pristanic acid and associated disorders such as adult-onset sensory motor neuropathy and congenital bile acid synthesis defect type 4. Furthermore, P504S is overexpressed in prostate cancer, highlighting P504S′s potential role in tumorigenesis and making P504S a significant target for cancer research and therapeutic strategies.
