NPC1L1 Antibody (G-1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects NPC1L1 of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). NPC1L1 (G-1) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. The Niemann-Pick C1-like protein 1, or NPC1L1, plays a crucial role in cholesterol uptake at the intestinal enterocyte level, facilitating the transport of cholesterol across the plasma membrane. This function directly influences cholesterol homeostasis and absorption, which are vital for maintaining cellular and systemic lipid balance. Dysregulation of NPC1L1 can lead to conditions such as Niemann-Pick disease type C, an autosomal recessive disorder characterized by the accumulation of unesterified cholesterol in the endosomal/lysosomal system, resulting in progressive neurodegeneration. NPC1L1 is predominantly expressed in the small intestine, with additional expression in the gallbladder, liver, testis, and stomach, highlighting NPC1L1′s significance in various physiological processes. The gene encoding NPC1L1 spans approximately 29 kb and contains 20 exons, including a notably large 1,526 bp exon 2. A sterol-regulatory element in the promoter region indicates that NPC1L1 may be intricately involved in the regulation of cholesterol levels within cells, further underscoring NPC1L1′s importance in metabolic health and disease.
