Nectin 2 Antibody (E-1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Nectin 2 in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Nectin 2 Antibody (E-1) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Nectin 2 is a crucial Ca2+-independent homophilic cell adhesion molecule that plays a significant role in cellular interactions and signaling, belonging to the immunoglobulin superfamily. Nectin 2 is essential for the entry of certain herpesviruses, including HSV-2 and pseudorabies virus, into host cells, highlighting its importance in viral pathogenesis. Nectin 2 is ubiquitously expressed, with the highest levels found in human neuronal cell lines, fibroblasts, keratinocytes, and activated T lymphocytes, and exists in two splicing variants, Nectin 2α and Nectin 2δ. The unique C-terminal conserved motif (E/A-X-Y-V) present in both variants interacts with the PDZ domain of the F-actin-binding protein afadin, linking Nectin 2 to the actin cytoskeleton, which is vital for maintaining cell shape and facilitating cellular movement. Notably, Nectin 2δ undergoes tyrosine phosphorylation in response to cell-cell adhesion, further underscoring its role in cellular communication and adhesion processes.
