MUS81 Antibody (MTA30 2G10/3) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a antibody that detects MUS81 in human samples through western blotting (WB) and immunoprecipitation (IP) applications. MUS81 plays a crucial role in maintaining genomic integrity by participating in the DNA damage response, particularly in the repair of DNA lesions induced by UV radiation and methylation. MUS81 is essential for the resolution of stalled replication forks, as MUS81 forms a complex with Eme1 to create an endonuclease that processes these forks before they can regress into Holliday junctions. MUS81′s ability to resolve Holliday junctions into linear duplexes by cleaving strands of like polarity is vital for preventing genomic instability, which can lead to cancer. Additionally, MUS81 expression is upregulated in response to agents that inhibit DNA replication, highlighting MUS81′s importance in cellular stress responses. The human MUS81 gene is located on chromosome 11q13 and encodes a protein consisting of 551 amino acids, underscoring MUS81′s significance in cellular mechanisms that safeguard the genome against damage.
