Mucin 2 Antibody (H-9) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects Mucin 2 of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-Mucin 2 antibody (H-9) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Mucin 2 plays a crucial role in forming a protective barrier in the gastrointestinal tract, where goblet cells secrete Mucin 2 to create a gel-like mucus layer that traps pathogens and facilitates food passage. This function is vital for maintaining gut health and preventing infections, as well as playing a role in the immune response. Mucin 2′s structure is characterized by a high degree of glycosylation and a variable number of tandem repeats, which contribute to Mucin 2′s ability to form viscous gels. Mucin 2 expression is often altered in colonic tumors and cancerous tissues, making Mucin 2 a significant marker for research and potential therapeutic targets.
