MTA1 Antibody (A-11) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects MTA1 of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). MTA1 Antibody (A-11) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase, phycoerythrin, fluorescein isothiocyanate, and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. MTA1, or metastasis-associated protein 1, plays a crucial role as a component of the NURD (nucleosome remodeling and histone deacetylation) complex, which is essential for ATP-dependent chromatin remodeling and histone deacetylase activity. MTA1 is primarily located in the nucleus, where MTA1 facilitates transcriptional repression by promoting the association of repressor molecules with chromatin, thereby influencing gene expression. The structural integrity of MTA1, which includes a single SH3-binding motif and a zinc finger domain, is vital for function, as these domains are involved in protein-protein interactions that are critical for the assembly and activity of the NURD complex. MTA1 is typically expressed at low levels across various tissues but shows significantly higher expression in the testis. MTA1 overexpression has been linked to tumor invasion and metastasis in several carcinomas, including colorectal, gastrointestinal, and breast cancers, suggesting that MTA1 levels may serve as a potential biomarker for assessing tumor malignancy. MTA1 shares over 55% sequence homology with MTA2 (MTA1-like protein 1), which is ubiquitously expressed and may also play a role in cancer progression.
