MRP1 Antibody (QCRL-2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b antibody that detects MRP1 in human samples through various applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and flow cytometry (FCM). MRP1, or multidrug-resistance protein 1, plays a crucial role in the cellular efflux of a wide range of substrates, including drugs and toxins, thereby contributing to the phenomenon of multidrug resistance in cancer cells. MRP1 is primarily located in the plasma membrane of various cell types, including those in the brain, lungs, and peripheral blood, which is significant because MRP1 expression in these tissues can influence drug pharmacokinetics and therapeutic efficacy. MRP1 presence in the blood-brain barrier can limit the effectiveness of chemotherapeutic agents in treating brain tumors, making MRP1 a critical target for research aimed at overcoming drug resistance. MRP1′s structure includes an Mdr-like core and a unique N-terminal membrane-bound region, which are essential for MRP1 function as a transporter. Understanding MRP1 dynamics and interactions with other proteins can provide insights into the mechanisms of drug resistance and potential strategies for enhancing drug delivery in resistant cancers.
