MOG Antibody (D-10) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein (MOG) in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). MOG (D-10) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein plays a crucial role in the central nervous system by contributing to the formation and maintenance of the myelin sheath, which is essential for proper neuronal function and signal transmission. MOG is primarily located on the surface of oligodendrocytes and the outermost layers of mature myelin, where MOG facilitates cell adhesion and stabilizes oligodendrocyte microtubules. MOG epitopes are targeted by autoimmune T cells, leading to demyelination and contributing to the pathogenesis of multiple sclerosis (MS). Alternative splicing of MOG has resulted in the identification of various isoforms, further underscoring MOG′s complexity and importance in neurological health and disease.
