MMP-12 Antibody (H-9) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a light chain antibody that detects MMP-12 in mouse and rat samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). MMP-12, also known as macrophage metalloelastase, plays a crucial role in the degradation of elastin, a key component of the extracellular matrix that provides structural support to tissues. MMP-12 is primarily produced in alveolar macrophages, where MMP-12 is involved in the remodeling of lung tissue and the inflammatory response. The ability of MMP-12 to degrade elastin is particularly important in the context of granulomatous skin diseases, as excessive elastin degradation can lead to tissue damage and impaired healing. Furthermore, MMP-12 is implicated in macrophage migration through the epidermal and vascular basement membranes, which is essential for the immune response during inflammatory disorders. Anti-MMP-12 antibody (H-9) enables researchers to gain valuable insights into the role of this enzyme in various pathological conditions, enhancing our understanding of its function in health and disease.
