MLF2 Antibody (B-6) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b antibody that detects myeloid leukemia factor 2 (MLF2) in mouse, rat, and human samples through western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). MLF2 plays a significant role in normal hematopoietic differentiation and is involved in switching between erythroid and myeloid lineages, essential for proper blood cell development. This 248-amino acid protein is ubiquitously expressed, with highest levels found in testis, ovary, skeletal muscle, heart, kidney, and colon tissues, while lower levels appear in spleen, thymus, and peripheral blood leukocytes. MLF2′s function involves regulation of gene expression during hematopoiesis, vital for maintaining healthy blood cell populations and preventing disorders such as leukemia. MLF2 shares 40% sequence identity with myeloid leukemia factor 1 (MLF1) and is located on chromosome 12p13, a region frequently associated with translocations in acute leukemias of both lymphoid and myeloid origins. Despite this chromosomal region′s association with leukemias, no structural alterations in MLF2 locus have been identified in patients with 12p translocations, highlighting MLF2′s complex role in cancer biology.
