SEE ALSO...

MBNL2 Antibody (3B4) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects MBNL2 in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry. Anti-MBNL2 antibody (3B4) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. MBNL2, a 367 amino acid protein, plays a crucial role in regulating pre-mRNA splicing, essential for proper gene expression. MBNL2 interacts with expanded CUG repeats, particularly in myotonic dystrophy types 1 and 2, where MBNL2 localizes to nuclear foci, suggesting a pathogenic role in these disorders. MBNL2 is involved in recruiting integrin α3 to focal adhesions through an RNA-dependent protein localization mechanism, highlighting MBNL2′s significance in cellular adhesion and signaling processes. MBNL2′s ability to modulate splicing and interactions with other proteins underscores MBNL2′s importance in maintaining cellular function and potential implications in disease mechanisms.

Do you know what the epitope sequence is that the Mbnl2 antibody recognizes? Or at least whether it recognizes the N- or C-terminal end of the protein?

Asked by: mmbhd
Thank you for your question. Anti-MBNL2 Antibody (3B4): sc-136167 was raised against recombinant MBNL2 of human origin. No epitope mapping has been performed for this antibody as of yet. Its exact epitope is not known.

Can this antibody be used in IF or IHC with mouse tissue or cells? Will there be non-specific staining?

Asked by: cjMara
Thank you for your inquiry. The use of mouse monoclonal antibodies with mouse samples is very common and typically poses no problem. We recommend following our recommended protocol, provided below, https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining Alternatively, we do offer MBNL2 (3B4): sc-136167 monoclonal antibody directly conjugated to HRP, and a variety of fluorochromes, if you wish to omit using any secondary detection reagent and potential non-specific binding.
