MAN2C1 Antibody (C-4) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects MAN2C1 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). MAN2C1 (C-4) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. MAN2C1 protein, also known as α-mannosidase 2C1, plays a crucial role in the degradation of misfolded glycoproteins by cleaving specific mannose residues, which is essential for maintaining cellular homeostasis and preventing the accumulation of improperly folded proteins. Located primarily in the cytosol, MAN2C1 is involved in the catabolism of free oligosaccharides released during the degradation process, highlighting MAN2C1′s importance in the cellular quality control system. Additionally, MAN2C1 is stimulated by cobalt and can be inhibited by compounds such as swainsonine and 1,4-dideoxy-1,4-imino-D-mannitol, which can affect cellular adhesion properties, as seen in Jurkat T cells where inhibition leads to cytoskeletal rearrangement. This makes MAN2C1 not only a vital enzyme in glycoprotein processing but also a potential target for therapeutic interventions in diseases associated with protein misfolding.
