LMP2 Antibody (A-1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a antibody that detects LMP2 in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). LMP2 is a crucial component of the proteasome, a multicatalytic proteinase complex that plays a vital role in the regulated degradation of ubiquitinated proteins, thereby maintaining cellular homeostasis and regulating various cellular processes, including the cell cycle and apoptosis. The proteasome is located in both the nucleus and cytoplasm, where LMP2 comprises at least 15 nonidentical subunits arranged in a highly ordered ring structure. LMP2, along with LMP7, is particularly significant as these low molecular mass proteins are involved in the MHC class I antigen-processing pathway, which is essential for the activation of cytotoxic T cells in response to viral infections and tumor cells. Upon stimulation with interferon-gamma, LMP2 and LMP7 replace housekeeping subunits in the proteasome, enhancing the proteolytic activity necessary for generating peptides that are presented on MHC class I molecules.
