Lambda 5 Antibody (G-3) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a antibody that detects Lambda 5 in mouse samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Lambda 5, also known as Immunoglobulin lambda-like polypeptide 1 or CD179b antigen, plays a pivotal role in B cell development by forming part of the surrogate light chain of the pre-B cell receptor complex alongside VpreB. This complex ensures the successful pairing of the heavy chain with conventional light chains, which is crucial for the formation of functional antibodies. Lambda 5 expression is primarily observed in the liver, pre-B lymphocytes, and bone marrow, where Lambda 5 is most abundant during the pro-B and pre-B cell stages, highlighting Lambda 5′s importance in the early stages of B cell maturation. Lambda 5 expression is tightly controlled; Lambda 5 is turned off once the pre-B cell receptor is expressed, and as pre-B II cells proliferate, Lambda 5 levels are diluted, thereby limiting the formation of the pre-B cell receptor. This regulation underscores Lambda 5′s significance in maintaining the balance of B cell development and ensuring proper immune response in mammals.
