Klotho Antibody (A-9) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Klotho protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-Klotho antibody (A-9) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Klotho protein plays a crucial role in regulating mineral metabolism and aging, acting as a co-receptor for fibroblast growth factors and influencing pathways that control phosphate and calcium homeostasis. Expression is predominantly found in the kidneys and brain, where Klotho protein is involved in modulating various signaling pathways that impact cellular aging and longevity. Notably, Klotho deficiency in mice leads to aging-related phenotypes, including vascular calcification and osteoporosis, highlighting Klotho protein′s importance in maintaining physiological functions. Klotho (A-9) antibody recognizes a type I transmembrane protein, with an amino-terminal extracellular domain containing two internal repeats, KL-1 and KL-2, which share homology with β-glucosidases, suggesting a potential role in sphingolipid metabolism. Human Klotho gene, located on chromosome 13q12, encodes a 1012 amino acid protein that shows significant downregulation in chronic renal failure patients, indicating a vital role in kidney function and overall health.
