IL-8 Antibody (B-2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects Interleukin-8 in human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). IL-8 (B-2) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates, providing versatility for different experimental needs. Interleukin-8, or IL-8, is a crucial member of the C-X-C family of chemokines, primarily functioning as a potent chemoattractant for neutrophils, which are essential for the immune response. IL-8 is secreted by various cell types, including macrophages and epithelial cells, and plays a significant role in mediating inflammation and the immune response to infection. Notably, IL-8 is produced as a 99 amino acid precursor that is cleaved to yield a 72 amino acid, biologically active form that is nonglycosylated. The dynamic equilibrium between IL-8 monomers and dimers, both in solution and bound to cell surfaces, is critical for regulating chemotaxis and receptor signaling. Research indicates that IL-8 dimerization acts as a negative regulator of IL-8 receptor function, which is vital for maintaining the balance of immune responses. The two known receptors for IL-8, IL-8RA and IL-8RB, share 77% sequence identity and are classified as seven-transmembrane domain proteins, akin to G protein-coupled receptors, allowing them to interact with other chemokines and modulate various inflammatory processes.
