HIV-1 p17 Antibody (17-3) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b antibody that detects p17 protein of HIV-1 by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and flow cytometry (FCM). Anti-HIV-1 p17 antibody (17-3) specifically targets p17 protein, a crucial structural matrix protein of HIV-1 virus that plays a significant role in viral life cycle. Located in cytoplasm and entering nucleus shortly after viral synthesis, p17 is essential for transport of viral nucleocapsids from nucleus to plasma membrane, where viral assembly occurs. This localization facilitates efficient budding of new virions, thereby contributing to viral spread within host. Additionally, p17 is implicated in HIV-1 pathogenesis, with anti-p17 antibodies serving as serological markers for disease progression, highlighting potential as a target for therapeutic immunizations against HIV-1. HIV-1 p17 monoclonal antibody (17-3) is an invaluable tool for researchers studying HIV-1 biology and developing strategies for intervention.

How can HIV-1 p17 (17-3): sc-69725 mouse monoclonal antibody be used for double or triple staining, if the other primary antibodies are also raised in mouse?

Asked by: Professor Griffin
In this case, we recommend using a directly conjugated mouse monoclonal primary antibody. This antibody is available conjugated to phycoerythrin (sc-69725 PE) or fluoroscein (sc-69725 FITC).
