HIV-1 p17 Antibody (17-1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects HIV-1 p17 of HIV-1 origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and flow cytometry (FCM). Anti-HIV-1 p17 antibody (17-1) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. HIV-1 p17 functions as a crucial structural matrix protein with a significant role in viral life cycle, particularly in assembly and release of new virions. Located at the inner surface of viral envelope, HIV-1 p17 maintains viral core stability and facilitates transport of viral nucleocapsids from nucleus to plasma membrane, where viral assembly occurs. This process ensures efficient release of newly formed viral particles to infect other cells. Anti-HIV-1 p17 antibodies serve as serological markers for disease progression, highlighting HIV-1 p17′s potential as a target for therapeutic interventions and immunizations against HIV-1.

Can HIV-1 p17 (17-1): sc-69723 monoclonal antibody be used in IF or IHC with mouse tissue or cells? Will there be non-specific staining?

Thank you for your inquiry. The use of mouse monoclonal antibodies with mouse samples is very common and typically poses no problem. To eliminate any potential cross-reactivity of an anti-mouse secondary detection reagent, HIV-1 p17 (17-1): sc-69723 is available in a variety of direct conjugations, such as HRP, PE, FITC and AlexaFluors.
