HIP1 Antibody (H-6) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects HIP1 in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). HIP1, or huntingtin-interacting protein 1, plays a critical role in maintaining cellular integrity, particularly in the brain, where HIP1 is involved in vesicle trafficking and membrane-cytoskeletal interactions. HIP1 is predominantly located in the cytoplasm and is essential for proper functioning of synaptic vesicles, which are vital for neurotransmitter release and communication between neurons. HIP1′s structural integrity is crucial, as HIP1 contains a C-terminal actin-binding domain, a central coiled-coil region, and an N-terminal ENTH domain, all of which contribute to HIP1′s function in vesicle size maintenance and trafficking. Disruption of HIP1′s function can lead to compromised cellular processes, particularly in neurodegenerative diseases such as Huntington′s disease, where HIP1′s interaction with huntingtin is inversely correlated with the length of polyglutamine repeats. Anti-HIP1 antibody (H-6) is an invaluable tool for researchers studying vesicle trafficking dynamics and molecular mechanisms underlying neurodegeneration, providing insights into HIP1′s critical roles in neuronal health and disease.
