SEE ALSO...

HEXA Antibody (D-2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects HEXA protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). HEXA (D-2) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. HEXA protein, also known as beta-Hexosaminidase A, plays a crucial role in lysosomal function by degrading GM2 ganglioside and other molecules containing terminal N-acetyl hexosamines, particularly in brain and other tissues. This enzymatic activity maintains cellular homeostasis, as GM2 ganglioside accumulation due to HEXA deficiency can lead to severe neurological disorders, such as Tay-Sachs disease, a fatal autosomal recessive lysosomal storage disorder characterized by progressive destruction of the central nervous system. HEXA protein forms a trimer composed of one α chain and two β chains (β-A and β-B), and proper functioning prevents toxic buildup of GM2 gangliosides, which can devastate neuronal health and function.

Can HEXA (D-2): sc-376777 monoclonal antibody be used to stain formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue sections?

Asked by: AbPolly
Thank you for your question. Yes, HEXA (D-2): sc-376777 has been validated for use in IHC with paraffin-embedded sections. We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
