Hec1 Antibody (C-11) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects Hec1 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-Hec1 antibody (C-11) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Hec1 plays a crucial role in regulating spindle assembly checkpoint, ensuring accurate chromosome segregation during cell division. Hec1 shows high expression in rapidly dividing cells, particularly during S and M phases, and localizes to kinetochores, which are essential for proper attachment of spindle microtubules to chromosomes. Hec1 is absent in terminally differentiated cells, making Hec1 a significant marker for tissues with high mitotic activity, such as testis, spleen, and thymus. In cancer, Hec1 often shows overexpression, which can contribute to genomic instability. Phosphorylation of Hec1 at Serine 165 by Nek2 is vital for maintaining chromosome segregation fidelity, while Hec1 interaction with retinoblastoma protein enhances this process further.
