HDAC5 Antibody (C-11) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects Histone Deacetylase 5 (HDAC5) from mouse, rat, and human origins by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Raised against amino acids 371-443 of human HDAC5, anti-HDAC5 antibody (C-11) specifically targets HDAC5, a class IIa histone deacetylase involved in chromatin remodeling and transcriptional repression. HDAC5 is predominantly localized in the nucleus but can shuttle between the nucleus and cytoplasm in response to cellular signals, such as phosphorylation events mediated by kinases like CaMK. This nucleo-cytoplasmic shuttling plays a crucial role as HDAC5 functions in the nucleus by deacetylating histone proteins, leading to chromatin condensation and suppression of gene expression. HDAC5 movement between cellular compartments enables dynamic regulation of gene expression in processes like muscle differentiation, cardiac development, and neuronal function. Mislocalization or dysregulation of HDAC5 has been implicated in various diseases, including cancer and heart failure, highlighting HDAC5′s importance as a therapeutic target.
