HAP1 Antibody (1B6) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects HAP1 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB) and immunoprecipitation (IP). Anti-HAP1 antibody (1B6) specifically targets huntingtin-associated protein 1, which plays a crucial role in neuronal function by binding to huntingtin, a protein that contains a polyglutamine region. The significance of this interaction lies in the fact that an expanded polyglutamine repeat in huntingtin, exceeding 35 repeats, is associated with the development of Huntington′s disease, a neurodegenerative disorder. HAP1′s ability to bind to huntingtin is notably enhanced in the presence of this expanded repeat, highlighting its potential role in the pathogenesis of the disease. HAP1 is primarily localized in the brain, with the highest expression levels found in the olfactory bulb and brain stem, which are critical regions for sensory processing and motor control. In rat models, HAP1 has been shown to associate with various intracellular organelles, while in mouse neurons, HAP1 is localized to membrane-bound organelles, including large endosomes, tubulovesicular structures, and budding vesicles. This localization is essential for the proper trafficking and processing of proteins within neurons, underscoring the importance of HAP1 in maintaining neuronal health and function.
