GRASP55 Antibody (E-11) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects GRASP55 protein of mouse, rat, and human by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). GRASP55, also known as Golgi reassembly stacking protein or p59, plays a crucial role in the organization and maintenance of the Golgi apparatus, a vital organelle responsible for processing and packaging proteins for secretion. The Golgi apparatus is structured as a series of stacked cisternae, and GRASP55 is integral to the stacking machinery, working alongside GRASP65. GRASP55 undergoes myristoylation and palmitoylation, which are important post-translational modifications that influence membrane association and function. Unlike GRASP65, GRASP55 does not bind to the vesicle docking protein GM130 and primarily localizes to the medial-Golgi, highlighting a specific role in Golgi architecture. GRASP55 interacts with golgin 45 and the GTP-bound form of Rab 2, forming a complex essential for normal protein transport and Golgi structure. ERK2 phosphorylation of GRASP55 during mitosis indicates involvement in the regulation of Golgi dynamics in response to cellular signaling, underscoring importance in maintaining cellular homeostasis and function.
