GPx-4 Antibody (B-12) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects GPx-4 in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-GPx-4 antibody (B-12) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Glutathione peroxidase 4 (GPx-4) plays a crucial role in cellular protection against oxidative stress by reducing lipid hydroperoxides to their corresponding alcohols and converting free hydrogen peroxide into water, thereby preventing lipid peroxidation of cell membranes. GPx-4 is unique among the glutathione peroxidase family as GPx-4 contains selenocysteine at its active site, which is essential for catalytic function and is encoded by the stop codon TGA. GPx-4 is particularly important in maintaining the integrity of cellular membranes and is involved in various physiological processes, including apoptosis and the regulation of cellular redox status. GPx-4′s ability to form high molecular weight oligomers enhances functional capacity, making GPx-4 a vital component in the antioxidant defense system of higher vertebrates.
