GCL Antibody (B-4) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects GCL protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). GCL (B-4) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Germ cell-less (GCL) protein plays a crucial role in repressing transcription during the later stages of spermatogenesis in both Drosophila and mammalian species, which is vital for proper reproductive function. GCL is primarily localized to the nuclear envelope, where GCL competes with barrier-to-autointegration factor (BAF) for interaction with emerin, a protein essential for maintaining nuclear structure and gene expression. The interaction between GCL and emerin is critical for nuclear envelope integrity, and any disruption in this process can lead to defective sperm motility and compromised nuclear envelope integrity in various tissues, including liver, pancreas, and testis. GCL is essential for normal nuclear-lamina organization, which in turn supports proper sperm morphogenesis and chromatin remodeling, highlighting GCL′s importance in reproductive biology and cellular function.
